Groudon is possibly the best Pokemon to have in your party. The immunity to Fire-types and Water-types thanks to Desolate Land turn it into a monstrosity. Despite its positive traits, Groudon isn’t invincible. Its SPD still needs polishing, preferably with Rock Polish, and an utter lack of recovery hinders its defense. That said, numerous strengths make it a very common sight on most teams. One of the greatest users of Stealth Rock, Groudon can almost always find a turn to set up. Precipice Blades is a solid STAB, despite its shaky accuracy. Stone Edge can be used for insurance against Flying-types. Backed by sun, Lava Plume destroys Steel-types and does good damage to many targets; high burn rate makes it difficult to switch into, so it isn’t terrible to throw out. Although Kyogre remains a threat, the former king has fallen from its throne. Previously hard to halt due to Drizzle-fueled Water-type attacks, longtime rival Groudon sports heavy sunlight irreversible by Drizzle, neutering Kyogre. Without weather on its side, it has a tough time fighting back against Groudon. That said, one would be foolish to underestimate Kyogre, as its STABS are backed by Primordial Sea and a titanic SPEC. ATK. Kyogre is a formidable foe, one that Groudon alone may not be enough to stop. Calm Mind boosts stats, making it terrifying and nearly impossible to KO. Blizzard is rather inaccurate, but allows Kyogre to OHKO a lot of opponents, though Ice Beam is reliable to wear down Groudon. Origin Pulse is the primary move due to its sheer power. Ice Beam is a weaker but more accurate alternative that is still able to take down the Eon twins if they’ve been weakened somewhat. Thunder is used to take down Water-types, though it can spread paralysis against faster Pokemon.
